A survival guide... doesn’t exist - Totally Enough

A survival guide… doesn’t exist

Everywhere we look, there is pressure to do this or do that or make this and buy that. So much pressure to have a certain kind of experience and the not-so-subtle assertion that anything different is somehow ‘less’. If we don’t do it a certain way, we’ve failed.
F that.

Sometimes it takes all the energy we have just to ‘get through’ one moment and find the next. Sometimes surviving the holidays means moving from the bed to the couch and back again, or forcing yourself to stand in a hot shower, or bingeing on netflix and putting your phone on do-not-disturb.

Sometimes self care looks a lot like hibernation… and that’s not a fail, it’s a win.
If all you did this week is stare glassy-eyed at the tv for a marathon of your all time *fave show, it’s enough. If your sink filled up with coffee cups and you ate the same three things all week, who cares? If you replied to a few text messages at the end of the day and thanked those who checked on you, gurrrrl it is enough.
There is no rule book for life and certainly no survival guide for the holidays. There is no exact recipe for self care… it’s more of a make-it-up-as-you-go type of cake.
Do what you can. And when you get so tired you can’t do anymore, rest and know that it is enough.
You’ve done enough.
You ARE enough.
*Good news: Harvey and Donna FINALLY ended up together and they’re sooooo cute. I found myself smiling at the tv… a lot! That’s the absolute best part of my week. It feels like the world is right again.
Holidays can be rough.
Grief is brutal.
Survival is impossibly hard.
But you CAN do it… one tiny little moment at a time.

You are Enough. Totally enough

  1. Perfectly said. I love that you give yourself and others permission and grace to do and be what you and they need,, when it’s needed most. To know that it IS enough and that you ARE enough no matter how you need to do things especially during the holidays-is everything. Your wisdom and strength is contagious and absolutely empowers and arms those who need to hear these words most. I adore you and think you’re awesome. ❤️

  2. Thinking of you as I often do Holly, & sending love. Please also give my love to Sarah, wherever she may be, Leigh xx
